베이징을 방문중인 후쿠다 야스오 일본 총리와 원자바오 중국 총리는 함께 야구를 하면서 친목을 다졌습니다. 후쿠다 총리의 방중 3일째인 29일, 양국 총리들은 댜오위타이 국빈관에서 아침 식사를 마친 후 카메라 앞에서 몇 분간 공을 주고받았습니다.
전날 두시간 반 동안 열린 총리 회담에서 두 지도자들은 무역, 기후 변화, 동중국해 유전 개발 논란 등 다양한 양국 현안을 논의했습니다. 중국과 일본은 2004년부터 동중국해 유전 개발을 둘러싸고 11차례 협의를 벌였지만 큰 성과를 보지 못했습니다. 그러나 이번 총리 회담을 통해 양국은 유전을 공동개발하기로 합의하고 향후 세부사항을 조율해 나가기로 했습니다.
한편 후쿠다 총리는 원자바오 총리와의 회담에서 “일본은 과거에 사람들을 고통스럽게 했던 역사에 진실로 반성한다” 며 “평화발전의 길을 고수하겠다”고 약속했습니다.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao tossed a baseball around with visiting Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda today (Saturday), following a day of talks as the two countries work to mend relations.
The two leaders smiled as they played catch for several minutes in front of cameras following a breakfast meeting on the third day of Mr. Fukuda's four-day visit to China.
During two-and-half hours of meetings Friday, the two discussed trade, climate change and their long-running and unresolved dispute over maritime gas fields.
Eleven rounds of negotiations about the gas fields since 2004 have made little progress, but both Mr. Wen and Mr. Fukuda were upbeat about their discussions.
Acknowledging past aggression, Mr. Fukuda told an audience at China's Peking University that Japan will reflect on its war-time history in order to avoid mistakes in the future.
