베트남 정부는 지난 11월 테러와 무기 소지 혐의로 구금됐던 베트남계 미국 시민 3명을 석방했습니다.
베트남 정부는 주 베트남 미국 대사관이 이들의 혐의에 대한 증거를 요구하자 11일 이들 3명에게 출국을 명령했습니다.
석방된 레옹 트루옹 씨는 지난 11월 17일 다른 베엣 탄 당 소속 5명과 함께 체포됐습니다. 그는 11일 베트남을 떠났습니다.
캘리포니아 주 출신의 베트남계 부부도 석방됐습니다. 이들은 소총과 탄약이 이들의 여행가방에서 발견됐다는 이유로 지난11월 23일 체포됐었습니다.
미국 대사관은 이 부부가 오늘 미국으로 돌아올 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
이 가운데 트루옹 씨와 함께 체포됐던 또 다른 미국 시민권자 1명은 아직 석방되지 못하고 있습니다.
Vietnam has released three of four Vietnamese Americans detained in November on accusations of involvement in terrorism and weapons charges.
The Vietnamese government on Tuesday ordered the three deported after the U.S. ambassador in Hanoi (Michael Michalak) demanded to see evidence to support the accusations.
Leon Truong had been arrested November 17th along with five other members of the Viet Tan party. He left Vietnam on Tuesday.
The two other Americans, a couple from California (Ngyuen Thi Thinh and Le Van Phan), were arrested November 23rd after officials said a gun and ammunition were found in their luggage.
The couple is scheduled to return to the U.S. today. The U.S. Embassy said it welcomed the releases.
A fourth U.S. citizen, Quoc Quan Ngyuen, remains in Vietnamese custody. He was arrested with Truongand other members of Viet Tan.
