파키스탄 나와즈 샤리프 전 총리와 베나지르 부토 전 총리는 정부 측에 대한 요구 조건 명단을 작성하겠다며, 이 요구조건이 맞지 않으면 다가오는 총선을 거부하겠다고 3일 밝혔습니다.
두 전직 총리는 이 날 공동 기자회견을 갖고, 요구 조건이 충족되지 않으면 소속 정당들은 내년 1월8일로 예정된 총선에 참가하지 않겠다며 이같이 밝혔습니다.
두 총리는 또 위원회가 수일 안에 최종 요구조건 명단을 완성할 것이라며, 현재의 비상사태 상황에서는 선거가 자유롭고 공정하지 못할 것이라고 말했습니다.
파키스탄은 지난 한 달 간 비상사태가 내려진 상태로, 페르베즈 무샤라프 대통령은 오는 16일 비상사태를 해제할 것이라고 밝힌 바 있습니다.
Pakistan's former Prime Ministers Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto say they will draw up a list of demands the government must meet, or they will boycott upcoming elections.
In a show of unity, the two ex-prime ministers told reporters at a joint news conference Monday that if their demands are not met, their parties will not participate in parliamentary elections January eighth.
Mr. Sharif and Ms. Bhutto said a committee will finalize the demands within the next few days.
They said under the current state of emergency, the ballot would not be free and fair.
Pakistan has been under emergency rule for one month. President Pervez Musharraf has said he will lift the order on December 16th.
