휘트먼 대변인은, 이번 회담에서 미해군 함정들에 대한 홍콩 입항 거부와 두 나라간의 우주경쟁과 인터넷 문제도 제기될 것인지에 관해서는 언급하지 않았습니다.
그러나 휘트먼 대변인은 이런 문제가 의제가 아니라고 생각하기는 어려울 것이라고 말했습니다.

Senior U.S. and Chinese defense officials are meeting in Washington today (Monday) for annual talks.
Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman says the talks will cover bilateral, regional and global issues, including the war on terror and missile defense.
The meeting comes one week after Chinese officials refused to allow several U.S. warships to enter Hong Kong harbor.
Whitman did not say whether the ship dispute would be discussed, nor whether other controversial issues involving space and the Internet would be raised. However, he says they may be discussed.
Last week, the U.S. Defense Department lodged an official complaint with the Chinese government for canceling a port call and refusing to give two small U.S. Navy ships harbor from an approaching storm.
