이라크에서 폭력이 감소하고 있다는 소식에 고무된 수백명의 이라크 난민들이 28일 시리아로 부터 귀국길에 올랐습니다.
이라크 정부의 알리 알-다바그 대변인은 기자회견에서 800여명의 이라크 난민들을 태운 차량이 27일 시리아의 다마스커스를 떠나 바그다드로 출발했다고 밝혔습니다. 대변인은 기자회견에서 이미 6만여명의 이라크 난민들이 다시 이라크로 귀국했으며, 앞으로 그 숫자가 계속 늘어날 것이라고 말했습니다.
대변인은 정부가 이들을 보호하기 위해 최선을 다할 것이라고 말했습니다.
한편, 연합군이 지난 27일부터 이라크 중부와 북부지역에서 벌인 알-카에다 조직망을 겨냥한 소탕작전에서 12명의 테러용의자를 구금했다고, 미군이 밝혔습니다.
미군은 미군 특수부대의 지원을 받은 이라크 군이 27일 서부 바그다드에서 3명의 알-카에다 저항세력을 생포했다고 말했습니다.

Hundreds of Iraqi refugees are returning to Iraq today (Wednesday) from Syria, encouraged by reports of lessening violence in their home country.
Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh told a news conference that a convoy with 800 Iraqis left Damascus Tuesday heading for Baghdad. He said 60-thousand Iraqis have recently returned and more are expected.
He said the government will do its best to protect the families.
In other news, the U.S. military says coalition forces detained 12 suspects since Tuesday in operations targeting al-Qaida networks in central and northern Iraq.
Separately, the military says Iraqi forces, advised by U.S. Special Forces, captured three known al-Qaida in Iraq terrorists Tuesday in western Baghdad.
