이바노프 총리는 미국은 러시아의 입지를 무시하고 자국의 이해에 의해서만 행동하려하고 있다며, 러시아는 자국의 안보 강화로 대응할 권리가 있다고 말했습니다.
하지만 이바노프 총리는 러시아는 군비 경쟁에 참여하지는 않을 것이라고 말했습니다.
미국은 폴란드와 체코 공화국에 미사일 방어체제를 구축하기를 원하고 있습니다. 하지만 러시아는 그러한 제안을 강력히 반대하고 있습니다.
A senior Russian official says Moscow is ready for dialogue on the latest U.S. proposal for a planned missile shield in Europe.
First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov told the Russian News Service Radio station today (Monday) that Moscow has received written proposals from the United States on the missile defense shield.
He said if the United States decides to disregard Moscow's position and act in its own interest, Russia will have the right to respond by ensuring its own security.
But he said Russia will not be drawn into an arms race.
The United States is planning to install parts of its missile shield system in Poland and the Czech Republic.
Russia is vehemently opposed to the idea.
