이라크 경찰과 한 무장세력 소식통은 이라크의 사마라 마을 근처 마을에서 알카에다와 한 경쟁 무장 단체와의 교전이 벌어져 알카에다 요원 17명이 사망했다고 밝혔습니다.
알카에다와 경쟁 저항세력인 이슬람군 (Islam Army)과의 충돌은 지난 9일 발생했으며, 이슬람군 소식통은 자신들이 알카에다 무장요원들을 적어도 16명 체포했다고 밝혔습니다. 이번 교전에서 이슬람군의 사상자 수에 대해서는 아직 알려지지 않고 있습니다.
사마라시 지역은 대단히 많은 수의 알카에다 무장분자들이 있는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
이와는 별도로 이라크의 한 병원 관리는 미국의 소리 방송과의 통화에서 북부 모술 시에서 10일 폭탄 공격이 발생해 민간인 4명이 사망하고 16명이 부상했다고 말했습니다.
한편 미군은 디얄라 지방에서 폭탄 공격이 발생해 미군 1명이 사망하고 다른 3명이 부상했다고 말했습니다.

Iraqi police and an insurgent source say at least 17 members of al-Qaida in Iraq have been killed in clashes with a rival insurgent group in villages near the Iraqi city of Samarra.
The gunbattles between al-Qaida and the Islamic Army, a Sunni Arab insurgent group, broke out on Friday.
An Islamic Army source says his group seized at least 16 prisoners in the clashes. It was not clear how many, if any, Islamic Army members were killed.
Al-Qaida in Iraq has been known to have a heavy presence in the area.
In other news, an Iraqi hospital official told VOA (Kurdish service) that four civilians were killed and 16 wounded in an explosion Saturday in the northern city of Mosul.
The U.S. military said a soldier was killed in a bomb attack in Diyala province. Three other soldiers were wounded in the blast.
