버마의 민주화 지도자, 아웅산 수치 여사는 9일 버마 '민주주의 민족 동맹', NLD 당국자 3명과 버마의 옛 수도 양곤에서 만났습니다.
버마 군사정부는 이날 아웅산 수치 여사가 3년여 만에 처음으로 버마 NLD 대표자들과 만나는 것을 허용했습니다. 양측 간 1시간 동안 이뤄진 회동은 아웅산 수치 여사가 버마 정부 측 대표자인 아웅 카이 장관과 먼저 면담을 가진 뒤 군부 손님접견실에서 이뤄졌습니다.
NLD 대변인은 아웅 카이 장관이 군사정부 장군들이 국가적 화해에 대해 진지한 것으로 믿는다고 말했다고 전했습니다.
아웅 카이 장관은 지난 달 아웅산 수치 여사와의 연락관으로 임명됐었습니다.
이에 앞서 아웅산 수치 여사는 국가적 화해를 위한 군부와의 대화에 협력할 준비가 돼 있다는 성명을 발표했습니다.
이브라힘 감바리 유엔 특사는 8일 6일간의 버마 방문 일정을 끝낸 뒤 싱가포르에서 이 성명을 발표했었습니다.
Burma's detained opposition leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, has met in Rangoon with three officials from her National League for Democracy party.
The military government today (Friday) granted Aung San Suu Kyi permission to meet with NLD representatives for the first time in more than three years. Her meeting with them lasted about an hour, and took place at a military guest house, after she first held discussions with a government representative, General Aung Kyi.
An NLD spokesman told reporters after the meeting that Aung San Suu Kyi believes the ruling generals are serious about national reconciliation.
Thursday, the detained opposition leader issued a statement saying she is ready to cooperate with the military in a dialogue.
Special United Nations envoy to Burma Ibrahim Gambari read her statement in Singapore after ending a six-day trip to Burma that included a meeting with Aung San Suu Kyi.
