밤색의 법복을 입은 승려들은 어떤 구호도 외치지 않고 정치적인 발언을 하지도 않은 채 기도를 외우면서 파코쿠 마을을 행진했다고 목격자들은 전했습니다.
한편, 이브라힘 감바리 유엔특사는 11월3일에 버마를 다시 방문할 예정입니다.
지난 9월 군인들은 파코쿠 마을에서 저항하는 승려들의 머리 위로 사격을 했고, 이러한 정부 조치에 항거하여 전국적으로 시위가 번졌습니다.
군사정권이 급격히 유가를 인상하면서 8월에 촉발된 시위는 국민들의 존경을 받던 승려들이 동참하면서 45년간 군부 압제에 대한 항거로 확대되었습니다.
버마 군사정부는 시위 진압 과정에서 지금까지10명이 사망하고 수천명이 체포되었다고 밝혔습니다.

More than 100 Buddhist monks have marched in central Burma, the first such gathering since the military government's bloody crackdown on protesters in September.
Today's (Wednesday's) protest comes as diplomats in Rangoon said United Nations envoy Ibrahim Gambari will arrive on Saturday for his second visit to Burma.
Witnesses say the maroon-robed monks did not shout any slogans or make political statements, but instead chanted prayers as they marched through Pakkoku.
In September, soldiers fired shots over the heads of protesting monks in the town, and the government's actions rallied monks around the country to join the protests.
The protests originally started in August, after military leaders unexpectedly raised the price of fuel. The demonstrations gained force when the country's revered Buddhist monks joined the movement, turning it into a widespread protest against 45 years of oppressive military rule.
Burma's government has said at least 10 people died in the crackdown and thousands were arrested.
