소말리아 해역은 해적 행위를 소탕할 만한 중앙 정부의 능력이 미미하기 때문에 특별히 위험한 지역으로 알려져있습니다.

Maritime officials say pirates off the coast of Somalia have seized a Japanese chemical tanker and its 23 crewmembers.
International piracy watch groups say that after the tanker sent out a distress signal late Sunday, they notified Western warships patrolling the area, but the tanker had already entered Somali waters and could not be pursued.
Authorities identified the ship as the Golden Mori, and said the crew consisted of Koreans, Filipinos and Burmese nationals.
The hijacking in the Gulf of Eden is the second off Somalia since October 17th, when pirates seized a cargo ship flying under a Comoros flag.
The waters off Somalia are particularly dangerous because the west African country has no central government to put down piracy.
