국제인권단체인 국제사면위원회, 앰네스티 인터내셔널은 콩고민주공화국의 인권유린 사태에 대한 조사에 촉구했습니다. 앰네스티는 콩고 특수경찰이 일반 주민에 대한 고문과 살해, 강간을 자행하고 있다고 주장했습니다.
국제사면위원회는 25일 새 인권보고서를 통해 콩고민주공화국 특수경찰이 조셉 카빌라 대통령에게 대항하는 정치인 수십명을 체포하고 고문했다고 밝혔습니다.
앤드류 필립 앰네스티 연구원은 "지난해 콩고 대통령 선거 이후 인권상황이 더욱 악화되고 있다"면서 "특히 선거에서 패한 야당 지도자, 장-피에르 벰바를 따르는 주민이 공격의 대상인 것 같다"고 말했습니다.
앰네스티는 콩고 내 유엔평화유지군이 인권유린을 막기 위해 더 노력해야 한다고 촉구했습니다.
콩고는 이번 보고서와 관련해서 정부의 입장을 내놓지 않고 있습니다.

Human rights group Amnesty International has called on the Democratic Republic of Congo to investigate and prosecute security troops accused of the torture, murder and rape of civilians.
In a report released today (Thursday), Amnesty says the DRC Special Services police have arbitrarily arrested and tortured dozens of President Joseph Kabila's political opponents.
Amnesty researcher Andrew Philip says the situation has gotten worse since Congo's presidential elections last year. He says security forces appear to be targeting civilians with ties to opposition leader Jean-Pierre Bemba, whom the president defeated in the elections.
The human rights group called on the U.N. peacekeeping mission in Congo to do more to ensure justice for victims of abuses in the country.
The Congolese government has not commented on the report.
