Former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto says she is considering a high tech solution to her political campaign to avoid mass violence, after last week's deadly attack on her convoy.
In an opinion article in "The Wall Street Journal" today (Tuesday), Ms. Bhutto wrote she is considering "virtual" mass rallies, and campaigning via phone to avoid large political rallies such as the one last Thursday during which a bombing killed nearly 140 people.
Separately, the former Pakistani leader has suggested that elements in the government could have been involved in last week's attack, saying it appears authorities have something to hide as Pakistan's interior minister (Aftab
Sherpao) rejected her call for international experts to help with the investigation. Ms. Bhutto did not give any stronger evidence for the accusation.
The government proposed Monday that mass political rallies be banned for security reasons. Opposition political parties have rejected the plan.
