부토 전 총리는 오늘 18일, 두바이를 출발해 항공편으로 파키스탄의 카라치 공항에 도착했습니다.
공항에는 부토 전 총리를 맞기 위해 대규모 환영인파가 운집했습니다. 부토 전 총리가 이끄는 파키스탄 인민당 관리들은 공항에서 시내 중심까지 수십만명이 줄지어 부토 전 총리를 환영했다고 전했습니다.
한편 파키스탄 정부는 부토 전 총리의 도착에 앞서 보안을 위해 카라치 전역에 경찰과 의회군인 수천명을 배치했습니다.
지금까지 부토 전 총리에 대한 여러 건의 암살 위협이 있었습니다.
이와 관련해 부토 전 총리는 17일 두바이에서 가진 기자회견에서 이슬람은 여성에 대한 공격을 금하고 있다며, 진정한 이슬람 국가라면 자신을 공격하지 않을 것이라고 말했습니다.

Ms. Bhutto was in tears as she came down the steps of a plane that brought her from Dubai to Karachi today (Thursday).
A huge crowd of flag-waving supporters greeted Ms. Bhutto at the airport. Officials from her Pakistan Peoples party say hundreds of thousands of people were lined up along the route from the airport to downtown.
Ms. Bhutto is scheduled to address a homecoming rally near the tomb of Pakistan's founding father, Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
Authorities deployed thousands of police and paramilitary troops throughout Karachi -- Pakistan's largest city - to ensure security.
There have been numerous Islamist threats to assassinate the former leader.
Ms. Bhutto has brushed aside those threats, saying no true Muslim would attack her "because Islam forbids attacks on women."
