제바리 장관은 '미국의 소리방송'과의 인터뷰에서 "이라크는 북부 쿠르드 자치지구서 반군의 활동을 용인하지 않는다"고 말했습니다. 제바리 장관은 "하지만 터키 군대가 이라크 영토 내 반군을 공격할 수 있도록 승인한 터키 의회의 결정은 지역 안정을 심각하게 해칠 수 있다"고 덧붙였습니다. 제바리 장관은 이어 터키 의회의 결정은 이라크의 주권을 침해하는 것이라고 주장했습니다.
한편 이집트를 방문중인 알 바바칸 터키 외무장관은 터키 의회가 공격을 승인한 것은 미국과 이라크의 테러 근절 노력이 실패로 돌아갔기 때문이라고 말했습니다. 바바칸 장관은 호스니 무바라크 이집트 대통령과 회담을 가진 후 이같이 말했습니다.
미국을 방문 중인 알리 알-다바그 이라크 정부 대변인은 터키가 이라크 영토에 대한 공격을 삼가할 것을 촉구했습니다. 알-다바그 대변인은 쿠르드 반군 문제는 군사적으로 해결될 수 없다고 덧붙였습니다.
이라크 북부 쿠르드족 거주 지역에서는 터키의 공격에 반대하는 대규모 집회가 열렸습니다.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari says a Turkish military incursion against Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq would have serious repercussions for the entire region.
Zebari told VOA (Kurdish Service) that Iraq does not approve of the rebels' presence in the northern autonomous Kurdish region of Iraq. But he said a Turkish parliament decision authorizing cross-border military operations against the rebels could destabilize the region. He said the measure also violates Iraq's sovereignty.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan, who is in Egypt, said parliament authorized the action because efforts to curb terrorism by working with the U.S. and Iraqi governments have failed.
In the United States, a visiting Iraqi government spokesman (Ali al-Dabbagh) urged Turkey to refrain from crossing the Iraqi border. He told reporters at the White House that the problem with Kurdish rebels cannot be solved militarily.
Meanwhile, thousands of Kurds rallied in northern Iraq to protest the threat of a Turkish incursion.
