이라크에서 외국계 민간경호업체가 연루된 총기사건이 또 발생했습니다.
이라크 경찰은 18일 키르쿠크에서 경호업체 요원이 총탄을 발사해서 쿠르드계 언론인을 포함한 이라크 주민 3명이 부상을 입었다고 밝혔습니다. 경찰에 따르면 경호요원들은 자신들이 보호하던 택시에 이라크 주민이 접근하자 총탄을 발사했습니다.
이라크 내 미군 관리들은 총을 발사한 경호요원들이 미군 소속 기술자들을 보호하고 있었다고 말했습니다. 기술자들은 경호원들이 영국 업체인 에리니스 소속이었다고 말했습니다.
앞서 지난달 16일 이라크에서는 미국계 블랙워터사 소속 경호요원들이 발사한 총탄에 이라크 주민 17명이 숨지는 사고가 발생했으며, 이후 이라크 정부는 민간경호업체에 대한 관리를 강화하고 있습니다.
한편 미국 워싱턴을 방문 중인 알리 알-다바그 이라크 정부 대변인은 18일 블랙워터사가 이라크에서 철수하기를 희망한다고 말했습니다. 다바그 대변인은 모든 경호업체들이 이라크에서의 행동에 책임을 져야 한다고 말했습니다.
블랙워터사는 이라크 내 미국 외교관과 미국인을 경호해 왔습니다.

Guards from a foreign private security company have been involved in another shooting in Iraq.
Iraqi police say three Iraqi civilians, including a Kurdish journalist, were wounded when the private guards fired on a taxi that was approaching their convoy (at Qarah Anjir) east of the Iraqi city of Kirkuk.
U.S. officials in Iraq say the private guards were providing security for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Army Corps of Engineers said the guards work for the British security firm, Erinys.
There have been mounting calls for Iraq's government to tighten controls on private security contractors since guards from the U.S. firm Blackwater were involved in a September 16th incident in Baghdad in which 17 Iraqis were killed.
An Iraqi spokesman (Ali al-Dabbagh) visiting Washington today (Thursday) said his government would like Blackwater to leave Iraq. He said all security companies should be held accountable for their actions in Iraq.
Blackwater provides security for U.S. diplomats and other civilians.
