덴마크에서 당국자들은 지난 6일 코펜하겐에서 벌어진 폭력 시위 도중 연행했던 4백여명을 석방했습니다.
경찰은 7일 석방된 연행자들 가운데 일부는 나중에 기소에 직면할 수도 있을 것이라고 밝혔습니다. 이들 시위자들 가운데 일부는 독일과 스웨덴, 영국을 포함해 다른 유럽 나라 출신입니다.
시위자들은 무료 공공 주거지로, 그리고 기성의 전통 문화의 가치관을 거부하는 청년들의 집회나 연주회장으로 여러 해 동안 사용되어 왔던 100년 묵은 오래된 건물이 지난 3월 폐쇄, 파괴된 데 항의하는 시위를 벌였습니다.
이날 시위는 젊은이들이 경찰 저지선을 넘어 또 다른 빈 건물을 점거하려하면서 폭력적으로 돌변했다고 경찰은 전했습니다. 경찰은 폭동을 진압시키기 위해 최루탄을 발사했으나 인명 피해는 없었던 것으로 알려졌습니다.

Danish authorities have released more than 400 people detained during a violent protest Saturday in Copenhagen.
Police said today (Sunday) some of the released detainees may later face charges. Some of those arrested Saturday were from other European countries, including Germany, Sweden and Britain.
The demonstrators were protesting the closure and demolition in March of a dilapidated 100-year-old building used for years as free public housing and as a venue for parties and concerts by counter-culture youth.
Police said Saturday's protest turned violent when youths tried to cross police lines to take over another vacant building. Police used tear gas to quell the rioting. No injuries are reported.
