수단 정부는 다르푸르 지역에서 폭력 사태가 늘고 있다는 반기문 유엔 사무총장의 주장이 담긴 성명을 29일 반박했습니다.
수단 관영 매체는 이 날 외무부 대변인의 말을 인용해 반기문 총장의 성명은 조작된 보도에 근거하고 있다며 이같이 밝혔습니다.
수단 외무부의 알리 알 사디크 대변인은 수단 정부는 최근 다르푸르에서 어떤 군사 작전도 전개하지 않았다고 밝혔습니다.
유엔 반기문 사무총장은 28일 최근 다르푸르 내 폭력 사태가 늘어난 것에 대해 매우 우려하고 있다며 지난 1일 다르푸르 경찰서에 대한 공격과 다르푸르 남부 마을에 대한 공습 등으로 수백여 명의 다르푸르 주민이 사망했다고 밝혔습니다. 반 사무총장은 다음주 수단 다르푸르를 방문할 예정입니다.

Sudan's government has rejected a statement from United Nations Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon asserting that violence in the Darfur region is on the rise.
Sudanese state media today (Wednesday) quoted a foreign ministry spokesman as saying Mr. Ban's statement is based on fabricated news stories.
The spokesman, Ali al-Sadiq, said the Sudanese government has not carried out any military action recently in Darfur.
On Tuesday, the U.N. secretary-general said he is deeply concerned about what he called the recent escalation of violence in the Darfur region.
He said several hundred people have died in incidents that include an August 1st attack on a police station and air strikes on villages in South Darfur that followed.
Mr. Ban is due to visit Darfur during a trip to Sudan set to begin next week.
