필리핀 마닐라에서 열린 아세안, 동남아국가연합, 장관회의는 2일 북핵 문제를 평화적으로 해결해야 한다는데 의견을 같이했습니다.
또 아세안 외무장관들은 이날 아세안을 장차 유럽연합과 같은 공동체로 만들기 위한 아세안 헌장 초안을 확정했습니다.
아세안 헌장은 아세안이 유럽연합과 같은 공동체를 만들기 위한 헌법과 같은 것으로 공동체 설립을 위해 각 회원국이 해야 할 기본적인 내용을 담고 있습니다.
필리핀의 알베로토 로물로 외무장관은 당초 예정대로 아세안 헌장을 성공적으로 마무리 지었다며 이제는 11월에 열리는 정상회의에서 어떠한 결과가 나오는지 기다리면 된다고 말했습니다.
마닐라에 모인 아세안 외무장관들은 또 버마의 인권상황을 감시할 인권위원회 설립에도 합의했습니다.

Southeast Asian foreign ministers have completed a new draft charter for their regional group, ASEAN, that officials say will alter the way the body makes decisions in the future.
Philippine Foreign Minister Roberto Romulo says the proposed new regulations, approved during meetings this week in Manila, will no longer require unanimous support for decisions.
Exactly how ASEAN will make decisions in the future is not clear. The draft has not yet been made public, but is expected to be approved during a leaders summit in November.
ASEAN held talks in the Philippines throughout the week with top envoys from 17 other nations, including China, the United States and the European Union. During those meetings, foreign ministers discussed terrorism, human rights and other issues.
