아프가니스탄 경찰은 10일 발생한 하미드 카르자이 대통령 암살 시도와 관련해 11명의 용의자들을 체포했다고 밝혔습니다.
이번 체포는 유엔이 앞서 동부 가즈니주에서 발생한 카르자이 대통령 암살 시도에 대해 비난 성명을 발표한 가운데 이뤄졌습니다. 아프가니스탄 주재 톰 코에닉스 유엔 최고 담당자관은 이번 공격을 잔학무도한 행위라고 말했습니다.
탈레반 저항세력은 10일 한 학교에서 연설하는 카르자이 대통령을 향해 미사일 여러발을 발사했으나 모두 표적 옆으로 가깝게 빗나갔습니다.
카르자이 대통령은 최근 몇 년동안 2번의 암살시도를 받았으나 목숨을 건졌습니다.
한편 아프가니스탄 남동부에 있는 크호스트주의 한 경찰 차단소(검문소)에서 오늘(11일) 차량을 이용한 자살폭탄테러가 발생해 적어도 경찰 5명이 다쳤다고 아프간 당국이 밝혔습니다.

Afghan police say they have arrested 11 suspects in connection with an apparent assassination attempt on Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
The arrests today (Monday) come as the United Nations condemned Sunday's attack in the eastern province of Ghazni. The top U.N. official in Afghanistan, Tom Koenigs, called the attack "an outrage."
On Sunday, suspected Taleban insurgents fired several rockets at a school where Mr. Karzai was giving a speech, narrowly missing their target.
The president has survived two assassination attempts in recent years.
In a separate incident today (Monday), a suicide bomber blew up an explosives-laden vehicle at a police checkpoint in the southeastern province of Khost.
Authorities say at least five people were wounded, including three police officers.
