이집트 북부 시나이 반도에서 다국적 평화감시단 소속의 소형 비행기가 추락해 프랑스 군인 8명 등 모두 9명이 숨졌다고 이집트 경찰이 밝혔습니다.
이집트 당국자는 사고 비행기는 프랑스 군용기로 6일 시나이 반도 북부의 알-구라 공항을 출발해 남쪽의 세인트 캐서린으로 향하던 중 추락했다고 밝혔습니다.
아직까지 사망자들의 국적이나 사고원인은 확실히 알려지지 않았습니다.
다국적 평화감시단은 이집트와 이스라엘 간의 평화협정의 안전조항이 제대로 지켜지는지 감시하는 임무를 맡고 있으며 미군을 포함해 11개국 병사들로 구성돼 있습니다.

Egyptian security forces say nine foreign peacekeepers, including eight French troops, were killed today (Sunday) when a small aircraft belonging to the multinational observer force crashed in the northern Sinai region.
An official said the French plane was headed from the northern Sinai airport of Al-Gurah to St. Catherine's airport farther south when it went down today (Sunday) with nine people on board. The nationality of the ninth victim has not yet been disclosed. Officials have not said what may have caused the crash.
The Multinational Force and Observers supervise the security provisions of the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.
The force includes troops from 11 countries, including the United States.
