아프가니스탄의 미군 주도 연합군은 19일 아프가니스탄 남부에서 7시간에 걸친 교전 끝에 24명의 탈레반 저항분자들을 사살했다고 밝혔습니다.

국제사면위원회는 아프가니스탄 내 민간인들이 점점 더 자살폭탄공격과 납치 그리고 참수의 위험에 직면하고 있다고 지적했습니다. 이 단체는 교사와 구호 단체 종사자, 그리고 여권운동가, 성직자, 정부나 보건 관계자들이 공격의 대상이 되고 있다고 말했습니다.
지난해에 사망한 아프간 민간인은 적어도 756명에 이르며 이들은 대부분 도로변 폭탄이나 자살폭탄테러로 사망했다고 국제사면위원회는 밝혔습니다.

U.S.-led coalition forces in Afghanistan say troops killed 24 Taleban fighters in a seven-hour battle in the country's restive south.
A coalition statement said say the fight happened Wednesday in the Sangin district of Helmand province. Two coalition soldiers were wounded.
Meanwwhile, Amnesty International said Taleban insurgents are deliberately targeting civilians in Afghanistan to instill fear and exert control over the population.
The London-based rights group said civilians are increasingly facing suicide attacks, abductions and beheadings.
The organization said Taleban militants have a deliberate policy of killing teachers, abducting aid workers and burning school buildings.
Amnesty said at least 756 civilians were killed in 2006, mostly from roadside bombs and suicide attacks.
