전세계 약 30개국의 통상 장관들은 27일 스위스의 휴양도시 다보스에서 열리는 세계경제포럼 연차총회에서 다자간 무역협상을 되살릴 수 있는 방안을 강구하기 위해 노력할 예정입니다.
이들 장관들은 2002년 카타르 도하에서 시작됐던 세계무역기구(WTO)의 다자간 무역협상인 ‘도하라운드 협상’을 중단 위기로 몰고갔던 도전들을 해결하기 위해 노력할 것으로 보입니다. 전세계적인 무역장벽을 없애기 위해 시작한 도하라운드는 주요 국가들이 농업 보조금 폐지 등에 이견을 보이면서 지난해 7월 중단됐습니다.
지지자들은 이 협상이 타결되면 수십억 달러가 세계 경제에 유입되고 개발도상국들의 경제 건설을 돕게될 것이라고 말하고 있습니다.

Trade ministers from about 30 nations will try to revive global trade talks today (Saturday) at the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The ministers will attempt to break an impasse that has threatened negotiations within the World Trade Organization on a global trade deal, started in 2002 in Doha, Qatar. The deal would reduce tariffs and subsidies on a variety of goods.
Supporters of the deal say it will pump billions of dollars into the global economy, and help developing countries build their economies. But the talks have long been stalled over a dispute over how much richer nations should reduce farm and manufacturing subsidies.
