네팔 지역에서는 지난 19일 마오주의자들이 소수계 마데시 항의군중과 충돌하는 과정에서 16세 소년이 숨진 후 폭력사태가 이어지고 있습니다.
마데시 항의 군중은 21일 라한 마을의 정부 건물을 약탈하고, 대중 교통 수단인 버스를 파괴했습니다. 이에 따라 버스 운전사들이 파업을 선언하기도 했습니다.
마데시인권포럼으로 알려진 이들은 네팔의 새 과도 헌법에 반대해서 19일부터 항의 시위를 벌였습니다. 이들은 새 헌법이 네팔 남부 인도 국경 주변에 사는 빈민들을 돕지 못한다고 주장하고 있습니다.

Officials in Nepal say two protesters have been killed in continuing violence in the country's southeastern Terai region. Officials say police fired in self-defense when anti-government protesters tried to storm a police station in the town of Lahan.
Officials say at least 10 people were injured and a curfew has been imposed on the town. The protests began on Friday after Maoist rebels killed a 16-year-old boy during a clash with ethnic Madhesi protesters.
On Sunday, Madhesi protesters went on a rampage in Lahan, pillaging government buildings and destroying public transport buses. The bus drivers have declared a strike. A local group known as the Madhesi People's Rights Forum called for Friday's protest to object to a new interim constitution.
The Forum says the constitution does not help people who live in the impoverished southern plains of Nepal, near the Indian border.
