교수형 장면을 담은 공식 비디오는 처형과정에서 바르잔의 머리가 올가미에 의해 잘려나가는 장면을 담고 있습니다.
이라크 정부는 사형 집행인의 실수로 이같은 일이 발생했다고 말했습니다.
그러나 이라크의 소수계인 수니파는 이번 사건이 종파간 보복을 위해 고의로 저질러진 일이라고 주장하고 있습니다.
타리크 알-하시미 이라크 부통령은 정부가 두 사람에 대한 처형을 강행한데 대해 비판했습니다.
처형된 두 사람은 지난 1982년 두자일 마을의 시아파 회교도 주민 1백48명을 학살한 사건에 연루된 혐의로 교수형에 처해졌습니다.

Iraq's Shi'ite Muslims are celebrating the execution of two close aides of former dictator Saddam Hussein, but many Sunni Arabs, including politicians, are condemning the hangings.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (currently on a tour of the Middle East) has also expressed concerns about the dignity afforded to the two men. But she says the executions were an Iraqi process.
Saddam's half brother, Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti, and the former highest ranking official of Iraq's Revolutionary Court, Awad Hamed al-Bandar were hanged before dawn Monday.
An official video of the hanging shows Barzan being beheaded by the noose. The Iraqi government says the beheading was a hangman's mistake.
But the country's Sunni minority have called the decapitation a deliberate sectarian act of revenge. Iraqi Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi criticized his government for going ahead with the executions.
The two men were condemned to death for their roles in the killing of 148 Iraqi Shi'ites in the village of Dujail in 1982.
