이라크 정부는 지난 1982년 두자일 마을 시아파 148명 학살 사건에 연루된 사담 후세인 전 대통령 측근 2명을 처형했다고 밝혔습니다.
이라크 대변인은 사담 후세인의 이복 형제인 바르잔 이브라힘 알-티크리티와 아와드 하메드 알-반다르 전 이라크 혁명법원장이 15일 새벽에 교수형에 처해졌다고 확인했습니다.
당국자들은 형 집행 도중 바르잔의 목이 잘려 나가는 이례적인 일이 발생했다며 이는 신의 행동이라고 주장했습니다.
바르잔의 사위는 아랍 텔레비전과의 인터뷰에서 그같은 소식에 분노를 표시하면서, 시아파가 수니파 회교도에 대한 보복을 모색하고 있다고 비난했습니다.
두 사람의 처형은 사담 후세인이 두자일 학살과 관련해 교수형에 처해진 지 2주일 만에 실시된 것입니다.

Iraq's government says it has executed two close aides of former president Saddam Hussein for their roles in the killing of 148 Iraqi Shi'ites in the village of Dujail in 1982.
An Iraqi spokesman (Ali al-Dabbagh) confirmed that Saddam's half brother, Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti, and the former head of Iraq's Revolutionary Court, Awad Hamed al-Bandar, were hanged before dawn today (Monday).
Officials say Barzan's head was severed from his body during the hanging. An official video of the hanging shows Barzan being beheaded by the noose.
Barzan's son-in-law reacted angrily to the news of the executions, in an interview with an Arabic television network (al-Jazeera). He cursed Iraqi Shi'ites with a sectarian insult and accused them of seeking revenge against Sunni Muslims.
The executions come two weeks after Saddam was hanged (December 30th) for the Dujail killings, in a chaotic scene that has drawn international criticism.
