네팔의 새로운 의회가 15일 개원한 가운데, 십 여년 간의 내전 끝에 사상 처음으로 마오쩌둥 주의 반군들이 의회에 진출하게 됩니다.
내각이 과도 헌법을 승인한 후, 83명의 마오쩌둥주의 반군은 새로 구성되는 330명 정원의 의회 일원으로서 취임 선서를 준비하고 있습니다.
이같은 움직임은 반군과 정부가 수 천명의 목숨을 앗아간 십 여년 간의 내전을 종식하는 휴전 협정을 체결한 지 9개월 만에 이루어진 것입니다.
평화 협정에 따라 반군과 네팔 군은 같은 수의 무기를 유엔 감시단에게 반납할 예정입니다. 반군 전투원들은 유엔이 감독하는 수용소에 들어갈 예정입니다.
유엔 무기 감시단은 네팔에 도착했고, 15일부터 반군의 무장해제를 감독하게 됩니다.

Nepal's new parliament opened today (Monday) in a session that will seat Maoist rebels for the first time after a decade of civil war.
After the Cabinet approved an interim constitution, 83 Maoists were prepared to be sworn in as members of a new 330-seat parliament.
The move comes nearly nine months after the rebels and the government reached a ceasefire deal ending a decade of civil war that killed thousands.
Under the peace deal, the rebels and Nepal's' army are to surrender an equal number of weapons to U.N. monitors. The rebel fighters are to enter camps that are supervised by the U.N.
Arms monitors from the world body are in Nepal and will oversee the rebels' disarmament beginning today (Monday).
