인도네시아 당국은 6백명 이상을 태운 채 자바 시에서 전복한 여객선 승객들 가운데 약 2백명을 구조했다고 밝혔습니다.

앞서 인도네시아 정부 관리들은 30일 아침 여객선이 전복된 이후 1백77명이 구조되고 66구의 사체가 인양됐다고 밝힌 바 있습니다. 아직까지 실종자 수는 수백명에 달하고 있는 가운데 거친 바다로 인해 해군 선박과 어선들에 의한 구조, 수색 작업이 지연되고 있습니다.
사고 여객선은 중부 칼리만탄 주의 쿠마이로부터 중부 자바의 세마랑으로 향하던 중 전복됐습니다. 인도네시아 정부 관리들은 이번 사고가 악천후로 인해 발생했다고 말했습니다.
인도네시아의 하타 라자사 교통부 장관은 항만 관계자들이 위험한 날씨에도 불구하고 배를 출항시켰다고 비판했습니다.

Indonesian authorities say they have rescued nearly 200 survivors from a ferry that capsized in the Java Sea with more than 600 people aboard.
Late Sunday, police helicopters spotted about 30 people on life rafts, but high waves prevented an air evacuation. Officials say ships have been dispatched to pick up the survivors.
Earlier, government officials said 177 people had been rescued since the ferry capsized early Saturday, and 66 bodies have been recovered. Hundreds remain missing.
Rough seas have hampered search and rescue efforts by navy ships and fishing boats.
The ferry (the Senopati Nusantara) sank as it was sailing from Kumai in Central Kalimantan province to Semarang in Central Java.
Indonesian officials have attributed the accident to stormy weather.
The country's transport minister (Hatta Radjasa) has criticized port officials for allowing the vessel to embark in dangerous weather conditions.
