이라크 수도 바그다드의 경찰관 모병소에서 자살폭탄 테러사건이 발생해 최소한 열세명이 숨지고 열다섯명 이상이 다쳤다고 이라크 경찰이 밝혔습니다.
이라크 당국은 폭발물이 달린 조끼를 입고 있었던 것으로 보이는 테러범이 21일 아침 경찰서 밖에서 자폭했다고 말했습니다.
한편 미군은 지난 이틀동안 안바르 주와 바그다드 남부에서 미군 두 명과 미 해병대원 한 명이 숨졌다고 밝혔습니다.
미국의 로버트 게이츠 신임 국방장관은 이라크에서 폭력사태가 계속되는 가운데 이라크에 추가로 병력을 파견하는 문제를 논의중입니다.
게이츠 국방장관은 20일 이라크 수도 바그다드를 전격 방문하고 이라크 정부 관리들과 미군 지휘관들과 만났습니다.
게이츠 장관은 미국정부 관리들이 먼저 이라크 주둔 미군의 증원규모와 이들이 어떤 임무를 맡게될 것인지 고려해야 할것이라고 말했습니다.
미국의 조지 부시 대통령은 이라크에 병력을 추가로 파견할 것인지 아직 결정하지 않았다고 말했습니다.

Iraqi police say a suicide bomber has blown himself up at a police recruitment center in Baghdad, killing at least 13 people and wounding more than 15 others.
Authorities say the attacker, believed to have been wearing an explosive vest, detonated the charge outside the police center early today (Thursday).
Meanwhile, the new U.S. defense secretary, Robert Gates, who is currently visiting Baghdad, has been discussing a possible increase in the number of American troops in the country.
Gates met today with a group of American soldiers. Some of them expressed support for more ground troops, saying that it will allow more time to train the Iraqi army.
Gates met with U.S. military commanders and Iraqi officials Wednesday, and more talks are planned for today.
President Bush says he has not decided whether to send more troops to Iraq.
