북대서양조약기구 나토군과 아프간군이 아프간 남부에서 새로운 공세작전을 전개해 탈레반 저항분자 50여명을 살해했다고 나토 주도의 국제안보지원군(ISAF) 대변인이 말했습니다.
이번 작전에서 나토군과 아프간군의 사상자는 없었다고 이 대변인은 덧붙였습니다. 이번 작전은 지난주 칸다하르주의 판즈와이와 자리 지구등 2곳에서 시작됐습니다.
국제안보지원군 대변인은 지금까지 탈레반 저항세력의 거점인 세곳의 마을을 공격해 소탕작전을 끝마쳤다고 말했습니다.
나토군은 지난 9월 중순 같은 지역에서 전개한 작전중에 상당수의 탈레반 저항세력 전투원을 살해한 바 있습니다.
탈레반은 대부분 파키스탄과 국경을 접한 남부와 동부 지역에서 준동하고 있습니다.

A spokesman for the International Security Assistance Force says NATO and Afghan forces have killed about 50 Taleban insurgents in an operation in southern Afghanistan.
The NATO spokesman said there were no casualties among NATO and Afghan troops.
The operation began last week in two districts (Panjwayi and Zhari) of Kandahar province.
The spokesman said so far, alliance forces have cleared three villages of Taleban insurgents. In mid-September, NATO forces carried out another operation in the same area, during which a large number of Taleban were reported killed.
The Taleban are mostly active in southern and eastern parts of Afghanistan, close to the border with Pakistan.
