미국의 북핵협상 수석대표, 크리스토퍼 힐 미 국무차관보는 북한측이 한반도 비핵화를 향한 아무런 중요한 조치를 취하지 않고 있다고 말했습니다.
힐 차관보는 베이징에서 북핵6자회담 재개 이틀 째인 19일, 회담의 돌파구에 관해 말할 것이 아무것도 없다고 밝히면서 이같이 말했습니다.
힐 차관보는 그러나 미국과 북한, 양측이 좋은 정보교환을 했다고 덧붙였습니다.
힐 대표는 또 북한이 한반도 비핵화 과정을 시작하기 이전엔 북한이 원하는 것을 획득하지 못할 것이라고 강조했습니다.
6자회담 본회의와는 별도로 미국 재무부의 다니엘 글레이저 부차관보와 북한의 오광철 조선무역은행 총재가 베이징 주재 미국 대사관에서 접촉을 갖고 북한 관련 기업들에 대한 미국의 제재조치 문제에 관해 논의했습니다.
한편, 6자회담 일본측 수석대표 사사에 겐이치로 외무성 아시아.대양주 국장은 지금까지는 6자회담 진전에 대해 비관적이라면서 기본입장들이 아직도 멀리 떨어져 있다고 말했습니다.

The United States top envoy to the six-party talks said a bilateral meeting with North Korean representatives today (Tuesday) did not see Pyongyang taking any major steps toward denuclearization.
Speaking with reporters after his meeting, Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill said he did not have any breakthroughs to report. He did say, however, that the two sides were able to have a good exchange of information.
Hill says North Korea will not get what it wants until it starts the process of denuclearization. The six party talks over North Korea's nuclear weapons program resumed Monday after a 13-month freeze.
Japan's envoy Kenichiro Sasae said he was pessimsitic about the progress of the talks so far. Sasae said the basic stances were still far apart.
