팔레스타인 과격단체로 자치정부의 집권파벌인 하마스와 마흐무드 압바스 자치수반이 이끄는 파타운동 등 두 파벌은 정전합의 이틀째인 19일, 가자 지구에서 치열한 교전을 벌였습니다.
이날 교전으로 하마스 경찰관 한 명과 파타 보안요원 두 명 등 적어도 다섯 사람이 살해되고 어린이 다섯 명을 포함해 적어도 열 다섯 명의 민간인들이 부상했다고 병원 관계자들이 전했습니다.
압바스 수반은 모든 파벌들이 전투를 중지하라고 촉구하고 있으며 하마스 출신 이스마일 하니예 총리도 텔레비전 방송을 통해 팔레스타인인들은 이스라엘과의 투쟁에 있어서 단결할 것을 촉구했습니다.
한편, 하니예 총리는 하마스가 주도하는 팔레스타인 자치정부에 대한 전복책략을 미국이 주도하고 있다고 비난했습니다.

At least five people were killed and 18 wounded in fierce battles between rival Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah in the Gaza Strip today (Tuesday).
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, of Fatah, called on all factions to cease their fire.
Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas, in a television address, called on Palestinians to unite in the struggle against Israel. He said Mr. Abbas's call for new elections is unconstitutional. Mr. Haniyeh also accused the United States of trying to topple the Hamas-led government.
Witnesses say Israeli troops killed two Palestinian militants in the northern West Bank today. Israeli soldiers also fired at and killed a third Palestinian, a teenage girl, near Israel's separation barrier in the West Bank town of Tulkarem.
