미국 시사주간지 타임은 금년판 '올해의 인물' 표지에 통상적인 인물 사진 대신에 독자를 비추어줄 거울을 게재할 계획입니다.
타임지는 17일 발표한 성명에서 금년 ‘올해의 인물’은 국제적 미디어 주도권을 장악하고, 새로운 디지털 민주화를 구축하며 전문가들을 제쳐놓은 ‘당신들’로 정했다고 말했습니다.
타임지는 2006년에 뉴스와 우리들의 삶에 가장 영향을 미친 개인 또는 사람들은 보통 사람이며 보통 사람들은 유튜브, 마이스페이스 등 인터넷 웹사이트 활용을 통해 정보 유통력을 장악했다고 말했습니다.
타임지가 예로 지적한 인터넷의 유튜브는 영상파일 공유 사이트며 마이스페이스는 '한국판 싸이월드' 같은 블로그입니다.
한편, 타임지의 올해의 인물 후보로 마흐무드 아흐마디네자 이란 대통령, 후진타오 중국 국가주석, 북한 지도자 김정일 국방위원장, 미국의 이라크정책검토위원회 공동위원장인 제임스 베이커 전 미국 국무장관 등이 올랐었습니다.

Instead of a photograph on the cover of its annual Person of the Year edition, the American newsmagazine Time will have a mirror - to reflect the face of its reader.
Time magazine says the person or persons who most affected the news and our lives in 2006 is the average person, who, through the use of websites such as Youtube and Myspace, has gained power in the distribution of information.
In a statement released early today (Sunday) Time said the person of the year is "you" for seizing the reins of the global media, for founding a new digital democracy, and for beating the professionals at their own game.
Time began naming its person of the year in 1927. Other candidates for this year's cover were Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, China's President Hu Jintao, North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, and James Baker the former U.S. Secretary of State who headed the U.S. Iraq Study Group.
