이라크에서 미군 병사 3명이 추가로 사망했다고 미군 당국이 밝혔습니다.
미 해병대원 두명은 이라크 수도 바그다드 서부의 수니파 저항세력 거점지인 안바르 주에서 전투 중 입은 부상으로 14일 사망했다고 미군 성명은 전했습니다. 또 한명의 병사는 이번주 바그다드 북서부 니네와주에서 전투중에 사망했다고 미군 성명은 밝혔습니다.
이로써 미국이 이라크를 지난 2003년에 침공한 이래 2천 900명 이상의 미군이 사망했습니다.
한편, 이라크 적신월사 (Red Crescent)의 최고위 관계자는 이 기관이 이라크에서 겪는 가장 큰 어려움은 미군을 상대하는 일이라고 비난했습니다.
자말 알-카르불리 (Jamal al-Karbouli) 부위원장은 15일 미군은 최근 팔루자에 있는 적신월사 사무실을 침입해서 봉사요원들과 직원들을 두시간 넘게 억류하고 적신월사 소유의 차량과 건물을 불태웠다고 주장했습니다.
알-카르불리 부위원장은 이날 스위스 제네바에서 이라크 적신월사에 대한 자금 지원 문제를 논의하면서 이같이 밝혔습니다.
