Russian news media are issuing conflicting reports over the questioning of a second key witness in the investigation into the poisoning death in London of former security agent Alexander Litvinenko.
Russia's government-run Ria Novosti news agency says prosecutors have begun questioning former Russian spy Andrei Lugovoi in the presence of experts. But the private Interfax news agency reports that Lugovoi is being treated for symptoms of radiation poisoning and the questioning has been put off until Saturday.
Litvinenko died November 23rd in London from what British authorities say was a lethal dose of the radioactive substance polonium 210. Lugovoi and Russian businessman Dmitri Kovtun met with the late former spy in London on the day Litvinenko said he was poisoned.
In a deathbed statement, the former spy accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of ordering his murder. Kremlin officials deny any involvement.
