초대형 태풍 ‘두리안’이 강타한 필리핀의 희생자수가 급증하고 있습니다.
필리핀의 구조대는 현재 산사태로 수백명이 사망한 것으로 추정되는 지역에서 진흙더미를 파내며 생존자 구조작업을 벌이고 있습니다.
적십자사는 이번 태풍으로인한 사망자수가 450명이 이를 수 있다고 말하고 그러나 수 백명의 실종자가 있기 때문에 정확한 사망자 수를 집계하기 어렵다고 덧붙였습니다.
태풍 ‘두리안’은지난 1일 시속 225킬로미터의 강한 바람과 함게 필리핀 동부 알바이주를 강타했습니다.
태풍의 영향으로 마욘 화산 경사면의 진흙과 자갈들이 주변 마을들을 덮쳐 피해가 눈덩이처럼 커졌습니다.

Rescue workers in the eastern Philippines are digging through mud and rubble of villages where hundreds of people are believed to have been killed from mudslides triggered by a powerful typhoon.
Red Cross officials say the death toll from Typhoon Durian could reach 450 people. They say it is difficult to obtain a precise count of the dead, partly because several hundred people are still missing.
Typhoon Durian lashed the eastern Albay province Friday with winds of up to 225 kilometers an hour.
The typhoon triggered mudslides in villages around the slopes of the Mayon volcano. An eruption in July left tons of rock and volcanic ash on the mountain's slopes, and previous storms may have loosened the debris.
Rescue teams are hampered by blocked roads and swollen rivers as well as downed power and communication lines.
