28일 한 회교 무장단체 지도자가 레바논 국경 검문소에서 검문을 받다가 몸에 지니고 있던 폭발물을 터뜨려 자폭했다고 시리아 경찰이 밝혔습니다.
시리아 경찰은 오마르 함라라는 이름의 이 남자가 회교 무장세력 [알-타우히드 왈 지하드]의 지도자였다고 말했습니다. 경찰은 즈다이데트 야보우스 국경에서 이 남자가 위조 서류로 국경을 통과하려고 하다가 제지당하자 경찰에게 총격을 가하다가 자폭했다고 말했습니다.
이번 사건은 레바논에서 친 시리아계 정치인들과 반 시리아계 정치인들 간에 긴장이 고조되는 가운데 일어났습니다.
친시리아계 무장단체인 헤즈볼라는 이번 주에 대대적인 반정부 시위를 계획하고 있다고 말했습니다. 헤즈볼라는 지난 23일 반시리아계 정치인 피에르 게마옐 씨의 암살로 지난 주에 예정됐던 반정부 시위를 연기했었습니다.

Syrian officials say an Islamic militant blew himself up after being stopped at a crossing on the Lebanese border.
They say the man, Omar Hamra, was the leader of the Islamic militant group al-Tawhid Wal Jihad. Syrian security officials say they stopped him at the Jdaydet Yabous border point, which he was trying to cross with fake documents.
They say the militant shot at police before blowing himself up. The incident comes at a time of increased tension between Lebanon's pro- and anti-Syrian politicians.
The pro-Syrian Shi'ite militant group Hezbollah says it is planning massive demonstrations this week against the country's government. Hezbollah postponed the protests last week following Thursday's assassination of anti-Syrian politician Pierre Gemayel.
