부시 대통령은 후에 요르단을 방문해 누리 알-말리키 이라크 총리와 현재 계속되는 이라크 폭력 사태에 관해 회담할 예정입니다. 백악관 관계관들은 이들 두 지도자가 이라크 정부에게 더 많은 책무 이전을 가속화하는 방안과 이라크 안정에 이웃나라들을 포함시키는 방안등을 논의할 것이라고 전했습니다.
이들 두 정상의 회담을 주관할 요르단의 압둘라 국왕은 26일 미국 ABC-TV 방송에 출연해 중동은 현재 중대한 시점에 놓여 있으며 폭력 사태는 내년에 더욱 악화될 수도 있을 것이라고 경고했습니다.

President Bush leaves Monday on a trip to Europe for a summit with leaders of the NATO alliance, and for talks in Jordan with Iraq's prime minister.
In Latvia, NATO officials are expected to discuss the situation in Afghanistan, where NATO forces continue to battle Islamic militants four years after the Taleban government fell.
Mr. Bush is later scheduled to travel to Jordan for talks with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on the ongoing violence in Iraq.
White House officials say the two men will discuss speeding the transfer of more responsibility to the Iraqi government and ways of including Iraq's neighbors in stabilizing the country.
Jordan's King Abdullah, who will host the talks, warned today (Sunday on ABC's This Week) that the Middle East is at a crucial point and violence could worsen in the coming year.
