일본의 현행 헌법은 공세작전 수행을 위한 정부의 군사력 사용을 금지하고 있습니다.
아베 총리는 또 북한의 핵무기 계획처럼 일본을 압박하는 위협들에 대처하는데 도움이 되도록 헌법을 재해석하는 , 보다 신속한 조치를 취할 지도 모른다고 말했습니다.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says he will push to revise his country's pacifist constitution within six years to help improve its defensive capabilities.
In an interview (published today/Wednesday) with the Washington Post, Mr. Abe says redrafting the constitution would foster a "new spirit" in Japan. He hopes to complete the process in six years because that is the maximum time he can serve in office. (He was elected prime minister in September.)
Japan's existing constitution bans the government from using military forces to carry out offensive operations. The charter was drafted by the United States during its occupation of Japan after World War Two.
Mr. Abe says he may take the quicker step of reinterpreting the constitution to help Japan deal with pressing threats, such as North Korea's nuclear weapons program.
