중국을 방문중인 니콜라스 번스 미 국무차관은 중국과 미국이 함께 세계의 평화와 안정을 증진해야 한다고 강조했습니다.
번스 차관은 8일, 베이징에서 중국 관계관들과 만난뒤 이같이 강조하고 미국 정부는 북한의 핵개발 문제에 관한 분쟁을 해소하기 위해 중국 당국과 협력하는 것에 대단히 관심을 두고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
번스 차관은 베이징에서 중국의 리 자오싱 외교부장 및 두 명의 부부장들과 회담을 가졌습니다.
번스 차관은 미 국무부 군축담당인 로버트 조셉 차관과 동행하고 있으며 베이징 방문에 앞서 일본과 한국을 방문했습니다.

U.S. Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns stressed the need for China and the United States to promote peace and stability in the world following a meeting in Beijing today (Wednesday) on North Korea's nuclear weapons.
Burns said Washington is very interested in working with Beijing to defuse the problem of North Korea's nuclear ambitions.
During his visit, he met with China's Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and two deputies (Yang Jiuchi and Dai Bingguo).
Burns is accompanied by Robert Joseph, U.S. undersecretary of state for arms control. The two visited Japan and South Korea before arriving in Beijing.
North Korea agreed last week to return to six-party talks on its nuclear program after boycotting them for nearly a year.
