지난달 북한을 강타했던 집중 호우와 수해로 7천 3백여명의 이재민이 발생했다고 국제구호기구인 적십자사와 적신월사가 7일 밝혔습니다.
두 기구는 지난달 21일과 22일 강원도 지역을 강타한 폭풍으로 7백 32 채의 주택이 파손되고 3백 66 채가 물에 잠겼다고 말했습니다.
이 단체들은 또 이번 큰 물 피해로 14명이 다쳤으나 사망자는 발생하지 않았다고 말하고 국가의 조기 경보 시스템 발동으로 주민들이 적시에 대피했기 때문에 인명 피해가 적었다고 덧붙였습니다.
북한에서는 지난 7월에도 집중 호우로 인한 큰 물 피해가 발생해 평안남도 성천군 등 여러곳에서 수 백명이 사망한 바 있습니다.

An international relief agency says 73-hundred people have been made homeless by the heavy rains and flooding that inundated North Korea late last month.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies says the storms that slammed Kangwon province on October 21st and 22nd damaged or destroyed 732 homes and flooded 366 others.
The agency said today (Tuesday) that 14 people were injured in the storms, but that no deaths occurred because the country's early warning system instructed people to leave their homes in time.
North Koreans also suffered from heavy flooding in July after seasonal monsoon rains washed over the country. Pyongyang said those storms destroyed houses and roads and killed hundreds of people.
