아프가니스탄에 주둔중인 북대서양조약기구 (나토)군이 이번주초 아프간 남부에서 작전을 수행하던 중, 최소한 60명의 민간인이 사망했다고 현자 관리들이 밝혔습니다.
칸다하르주의회 부의장과 판자와이 지역구 관리는 26일 지난 24일 칸다하르주에서 전개된 나토군의 공습 등 연쇄 작전으로 많은 민간인들이 사망했다고 말했습니다.
나토의 국제안보지원군은 24일 칸다하르주의 판즈와이 지역에서 저항세력과 격전을 벌여 탈레반 전투원 용의자 48명을 살해했다고 밝혔습니다.
나토군은 그러나 작전수행도중 예닐곱명의 민간인이 숨졌다는 신뢰할만한 보고서를 받았다고 덧붙였습니다.
나토 대변인은 탈레반이 민간인을 인간 방패로 이용하고 있다고 비난했습니다.

Local officials in Afghanistan say NATO operations killed at least 60 civilians in the southern part of the country earlier this week.
The deputy director of Kandahar's provincial council (Bismellah Afghanmal) and the chief of Panjwayi district (Niaz Mohammed Sarhadi) said the civilians were killed in a series of NATO operations, including airstrikes, in the province of Kandahar on Tuesday.
NATO's International Security Assistance Force said its troops killed 48 suspected Taleban militants in heavy fighting in Kandahar's Panjwayi district on Tuesday.
NATO said it has received "credible reports" that several civilians were killed during the clashes.
A NATO spokesman accused the Taleban of using civilians as human shields.
Afghan authorities are investigating the casualties.
