이란은 서방 국가들에 자국의 핵 프로그램과 관련한 협상에 복귀하라고 촉구했습니다.
이란의 마누셰르 모타키 외교장관은 21일 이란 정부는 우라늄 농축을 중단할만한 어떠한 논리도 찾아 볼 수 없다고 기자들에게 말했습니다. 모타키 장관은 이란은 핵확산 금지 조약(NPT)의 회원국으로 우라늄 농축을 할 정당한 권리를 갖고 있다고 말했습니다. 모타키 장관은 이어 이란은 우라늄 농축 이유에 대해 서방세계와 논의할 준비가 돼있다고 덧붙였습니다.
이란과 서방세계의 핵관련 협상이 계속 교착상태에 빠져 돌파구를 찾지 못하고 있는가운데 이란에 대한 제재 결의안이 이르면 다음주 초쯤 유엔안전보장이사회에 제출될 예정입니다.

Iran has called on Western representatives to return to talks on its nuclear program.
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki told reporters today (Saturday) Tehran sees no logic to suspending uranium enrichment. He said Iran has the right to enrich uranium because of its membership in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. He added that Tehran is ready to discuss the reasons for its actions.
Iran has been locked in a standoff with the West over its nuclear program. A draft United Nations resolution on Iran is expected to be introduced in the U.N. Security Council early next week.
Diplomats have said they would seek limited sanctions on Tehran for refusing to suspend uranium enrichment.
