이라크에서 17일 미군 아홉명과 해병대원 한명이 숨졌다고 미군당국이 밝혔습니다.
미군은 18일 성명에서 바그다드 북부와 서부에서 도로변에 설치된 폭탄이 폭발해 병사 다섯명이 숨졌으며 시내에서 발생한 총격전으로 병사 한 명이 숨지고 또다른 한 명이 다쳤다고 밝혔습니다.
또한 이라크 알 안바르주와 디얄라 주에서 미군병사 세명과 해병대원 한 명이 적의 공격을 받고 숨졌습니다.
이로써 이번 달 들어 이라크에서 숨진 미군병사의 수는 예순여덟명으로 늘어났습니다.
미군 관계자들은 회교 성월인 ‘라마단’ 기간동안 이라크 전역에서 폭도들의 공격과 종파간 폭력충돌이 증가할 것이라고 경고해왔습니다.

The U.S. military says nine American soldiers and one Marine were killed in attacks and combat operations in Iraq on Tuesday.
Military statements (issued today / Wednesday) say five soldiers were killed in roadside bomb blasts north and west of Baghdad, while gunfire in the capital killed one soldier and wounded another.
Three other American soldiers and a Marine died "due to enemy action" in the provinces of Al Anbar and Diyala.
A total of 68 U.S. troops have been killed in Iraq this month.
U.S. military officials have been warning of a surge of insurgent attacks and sectarian violence across Iraq during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
