미국 국무부는 외국 국적의 여권을 지닌 팔레스타인인들의 요르단강 서안 팔레스타인 지역 방문을 제한하는 새로운 이스라엘의 정책에 대해 우려와 불만을 표명한 외교노트를 워싱턴 주재 이스라엘 대사관에 전달했습니다.
외국 국적의 여권을 지닌 팔레스타인인들 가운데는 상당수의 미국 시민들이 있으며 이들은 요르단강 서안 지역에 사업과 가족을 두고 있습니다.
텔아비브 주재 미국 대사관 대변인도 미국은 이스라엘이 모든 미국인들이 정당하고 공평한 처우를 받도록 확실히 할 것을 원한다고 말했습니다.

The U.S. government says it is concerned by new Israeli restrictions on visas to Palestinian-Americans traveling to the Palestinian territories.
A VOA correspondent (Jim Teeple) reports that the U.S. State Department has delivered a diplomatic note to Israel's embassy in Washington outlining concerns over the policy, which restricts visits by Palestinians holding foreign passports. Many are U.S. citizens and have businesses and families in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice raised the issue with Israeli officials recently.
A spokesman at the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv tells VOA that the United States wants to make sure all American travelers receive fair and equal treatment.
Jewish travelers can enter Israel at will and are offered automatic citizenship (under Israel's Law of Return). But a number of Palestinian-American business people have complained that Israel is refusing to grant them visas.
