News reports from Israel say prosecutors are drawing up an indictment against Israel's president, Moshe Katsav.
The reports -- in an Israeli newspaper and on Israeli radio -- do not give details about the charges. But police investigating President Katsav said Sunday there is enough evidence to indict him for alleged rape, sexual misconduct, illegal wiretapping and fraud.
Israel's attorney general (Menachem Mazuz) will decide whether charges are filed. A decision is expected within two weeks.
Several former female staffers have accused the president of sexual misconduct, including rape. The president has maintained his innocence.
On Monday, Mr. Katsav's lawyer (Zion Amir) said the president will resign if an indictment is served against him.
A number of parliamentarians and cabinet members are calling on Mr. Katsav to step down, and there is also talk of impeaching the president.
