이라크에서 폭력사태가 계속되면서 최소한 열일곱명이 숨졌습니다. 이라크 당국은 북부 탈 아파르 마을인근의 군 검문소에서 자살폭탄 테러로 여덟명이 숨지고 여섯명이 다쳤다고 밝혔습니다.
또한 수도 바그다드 시내와 주변에서 아홉명이 살해됐습니다. 미군 대변인 조셉 피터슨 소장은 지난 2년동안 이라크 경찰관 4천명이 임무수행중 살해됐으며 또다른 8천명이 부상했다고 말했습니다.
한편 미군은 이라크군과 연합군 병사들이 이번주 바그다드에서 이른바 가치가 높은 세명을 포함해 스물여덟명의 테러 용의자들을 체포했다고 밝혔습니다. 그러나 이들의 신원은 공개되지않았습니다.

New violence in Iraq has killed at least 17 people, including eight who died when a suicide bomber hit a police checkpoint in the northern town of Tal Afar.
Authorities say another six people were wounded in that suicide bombing today (Saturday). The deadly attack was among several across the war-torn country. Nine people were killed in and around Baghdad.
A spokesman for the U.S. military, Major General Joseph Peterson, says four thousand Iraqi police have been killed in action over the past two years, with another eight thousand wounded. Peterson oversees the coalition police training effort.
In other news, the U.S. military says Iraqi and coalition soldiers captured 28 suspected terrorists in Baghdad this week, including three so-called "high value" targets. They were not identified.
