하미드 카르자이 아프가니스탄 대통령은 30일, 어린이 한명을 포함해 모두 12명의 생명을 앗아간 내무부 청사 외곽에서 일어난 자살폭탄공격을 비난했습니다.
이 폭탄공격자는 내무부 직원들이 업무에 들어간 가운데 그의 몸에 감고 있던 폭발물읕 터뜨렸습니다. 이 폭발로 40여명이 부상했습니다.
폭발 당시 내무부 청사 안에 있던 제메리 바샤리 내무부 대변인은 이 폭탄 공격자가 정부 청사 바깥의 보안 초소를 겨냥한 것이 분명하다고 말했습니다.
이 폭발로 인근의 여러 가게들이 파괴됐습니다.
카르자이 대통령은 국제사회에 대해 극단주의자들이 훈련을 받고 활동하는 성역들을 폐쇄시키려는 노력을 벌이고 있는 아프가니스탄을 도와줄 것을 촉구했습니다. 카르자이 대통령은 기자들에게 이번 주에 페르베즈 무샤라프 파키스탄 대통령이 회교 극단주의자들에 대해 단호한 조치를 취하기로 약속했다고 말했습니다.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has condemned a suicide attack today (Saturday) outside the Interior Ministry in Kabul that killed 12 people, including a child.
The attacker detonated explosives strapped to his body as ministry staff reported to work. The blast wounded more than 40 people.
Interior Ministry spokesman Zemeri Bashary was in the building at the time of the blast. He says the bomber apparently targeted a security checkpoint just outside the government building.
The explosion destroyed several nearby shops.
Mr. Karzia called on the international community to assist Afghanistan in its efforts to close down sanctuaries where extremists are trained and developed.
He told reporters earlier that Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf had promised this week to crack down on Islamist militants in his country.
