올메르트 총리는 하지만 이스라엘 방송과의 회견에서 납치된 이스라엘 병사들이 풀려날 때까지 팔레스타인 수감자들의 석방을 고려하지 않을 것이라고 말했습니다. 지난 6월 팔레스타인 무장세력이 이스라엘 군을 납치한 후, 이스라엘이 가자 지구를 침공했으며 이로 인해 200명의 팔레스타인인이 숨졌습니다.
한편 압바스 자치수반의 보좌관들은 압바스 자치수반이 올메르트 총리를 만날 의지가 있으나, 아직까지 아무런 회담준비가 없었다고 말했습니다. 지난 1월 팔레스타인 선거에서 하마스가 승리한 후 , 두 지도자간의 접촉은 거의 없었습니다.
한편 라이스 장관은 30일 워싱턴을 출발하며, 이집트와 사우디 아라비아도 방문할 예정입니다.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert says he hopes to meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the coming days.
In interviews broadcast in Israel, Mr. Olmert said he will not consider freeing Palestinian prisoners until a kidnapped Israeli soldier is released. Palestinian militants kidnapped the soldier in June, sparking Israel's invasion of Gaza, which killed some 200 Palestinians.
Aides to Mr. Abbas said he is willing to meet Mr. Olmert, but they said no preparations have been made for any meeting.
The two leaders have had little contact since the militant group Hamas won Palestinian elections in January.
In Washington, the U.S. State Department announced Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit Israel and the Palestinian territories next week in an effort to revive the peace process. She will leave on the trip Sunday.
The State Department says Rice also will visit Egypt and Saudi Arabia during her tour.
