최근 아프가니스탄 남부지역에서 아프간 정부군 및 북대서양조약기구, 나토 주도 연합군과 탈레반 잔당과의 전투에서 40명의 저항분자들이 살해됐다고 아프간 국방부가 밝혔습니다.
국방부는 나토군의 공습과 합동 지상군 작전에서 23일 헬만드 성에 있는 한 반군 기지가 파괴됐다고 말했습니다.
나토군은 연합군이 앞서 헬만드 성에서의 교전에서 저항분자 23명을 살해했다고 밝혔습니다. 이번 전투에서 나토군이나 아프간 정부군의 인명피해는 없었던 것으로 알려졌습니다.
아프간 정부군과 나토 연합군은 올해들어 폭동을 강화하고 있는 탈레반을 분쇄하기 위해 노력하고 있습니다.

Afghanistan's Defense Ministry says 40 insurgents have been killed during the latest fighting with Afghan and NATO-led forces in southern Afghanistan.
The ministry says a NATO air strike and joint ground operation destroyed a rebel base in (the Girishk district of) Helmand province on Saturday.
The NATO alliance says its forces killed 23 insurgents during earlier fighting in Helmand. There no NATO or Afghan government casualties reported in the clashes.
Afghan government and foreign security forces are trying to uproot the Taleban, which has stepped up its insurgency this year.
