소말리아 정부는 18일 소말리아의 압둘라 유수프 임시 대통령 암살 기도로 보이는 폭탄 테러로 적어도 11명이 숨졌다고 발표했습니다.
정부 대변인에 따르면 유수프 대통령을 태운 차량 행렬이 바이도아에 있는 소말리아 의사당 건물을 지나던 도중 폭발물을 실은 차량이 돌진해왔으며, 유수프 대통령은 무사합니다.
하지만 이날 공격으로 일행 중 유수프 대통령의 동생을 포함한 다섯 명이 숨졌으며, 암살 공격 가담자로 보이는 여섯 명도 경호원과의 교전 도중 죽었습니다.
현재까지 자신들이 공격을 가했다고 주장하는 단체는 나타나지 않았으며, 이스마일 모하메드 허레 외무 장관은 기자들에게 두 명의 용의자를 체포했다고 말했습니다. 이날 유수프 대통령은 새 내각에 대한 의회의 승인을 얻기 위해 의회로 향하던 중이었습니다.

Officials in Somalia say at least 11 people were killed in an apparent assassination attempt on Somali Interim President Abdullahi Yusuf today (Monday).
Government spokesmen say the president was unharmed when a car bomb went off as his convoy drove by the Somali parliament building in Baidoa.
Officials say the explosion killed five people in the convoy, including the president's brother. They say the president's security forces then killed six presumed assailants in a gunbattle.
No one has claimed responsibility for the blasts. Foreign Minister Ismail Mohammed Hurre told reporters (in Nairobi) that two suspected attackers have been arrested.
The president had come to parliament seeking approval of his new cabinet. Officials say the lawmakers continued their session after the blast and approved Mr. Yusuf's nominations.
Baidoa is the seat of Somalia's weak interim government, which is struggling to maintain authority as Islamists expand their control over much of southern Somalia.
